Sparkling fresh, this opens with the distinctive freesia notes of violet and lily. As these develop, a hint of champaca, hyacinth and neroli deepen the heart notes. A rich, green violet leaf and pink pepper help lift the delicious green sap that keeps freesias from becoming overblown or too sweet. The heart notes stay prominent for longer than most scents and the dry-down is more a softening of this; whilst orris and the continuing violet leaf add depth to the light floral quality.
(Each colour contains different volatile notes: the gold and white have more violet, the russet is peppery and the pinks contain soft citrus). The flowers also smell different when growing and cut - possibly why it's a rare flower to find bottled, but worth the effort.)
